Privacy Policy

Scribly is a web app that lets you upload a photo and generate a handwritten annotation image without logging in. This notice explains what information may be processed while you use the service.

Information processed

When you request image generation, Scribly may process the uploaded photo file, a temporary browser-generated clientId, generation job status, and the generated result image. Limited operational metrics such as hashed clientId, page visits, valid upload selections, generation requests, success or failure status, file type, and file size may be processed. If you contact us, your email address and message may also be processed.

Photos and generated results

Uploaded photos are processed to perform the image generation you request. Jobs may be managed in a temporary in-memory server queue, and status can disappear after a server restart or expiration. Do not upload photos that contain IDs, financial information, medical records, contracts, or other sensitive personal information.

Browser storage

Scribly may use localStorage in your browser to resume in-progress jobs and show recent results without requiring login. This information is used only inside the same browser and can be removed when you clear browser storage.

Usage metrics

Scribly may aggregate visit and generation metrics to improve the service, prevent abuse, and plan future usage-based features. Raw clientIds are hashed on the server, and raw filenames, uploaded image content, and raw IP addresses are not stored as usage metrics.

Advertising and cookies

Scribly may use advertising services such as Google AdSense. During ad delivery, Google or advertising partners may process cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, IP addresses, browser information, ad impressions, and ad interactions. You can learn how Google uses information from partner sites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Third-party processing

Uploaded photos and request information may be sent to an image generation provider to process your request. The provider may handle that information as needed for generation, and actual retention and processing depend on both the provider used in the deployment environment and Scribly's operating settings.

Security and retention

Scribly may use server storage and browser storage to serve generated results and let the same browser show recent history. The operator may clean stored files for reliability, cost control, or abuse prevention. Images downloaded to your device and history left in your browser remain under your control.
