First use photo selection

Start with a normal JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, or HEIF image under the upload limit. If the browser preview looks odd, try another format.

For "A first-time checklist before uploading to Scribly", the image should make sense before any annotation is added. If it looks confusing as a small preview, choose a simpler frame, add more light, or leave more open space before generating.

Writing a note that fits the photo

Check that the subject is bright, clear, and not crowded by too many signs or objects.

A good Scribly line should feel attached to this specific first use photo. If the wording could fit dozens of unrelated images, make it more concrete by naming the mood, action, season, object, or relationship shown in the scene.

Before saving or sharing

Scan the photo for private information before upload, especially around edges and backgrounds.

Before saving or sharing, check that the subject is still readable, the note does not cover the important part, and private details stay out of the frame.

Start with easy expectations

The first Scribly result does not have to be the perfect one. It is more useful to learn what kind of photo fits the service: clear light, a little open space, and one feeling that is easy to name. Trying two or three simple photos often teaches more than searching for a flawless original.

If a first result feels different from what you expected, the photo is not necessarily wrong. Some images are better left untouched, while others become warmer with one small handwritten line. Scribly is less about transforming every photo and more about gently organizing the scenes you already want to keep.
